I read an article recently that saddened me. A young man signed up for a property training course, using thousands of pounds he had borrowed, on the promise of becoming financially free. Instead, the course failed to deliver results, he sank further into debt and sadly took his own life.
I’ve attended several courses out of curiosity and been amazed at how many people so easily part with £000’s without questioning what they’re hearing or seeing.
The talks are given by a sharp salesmen telling the audience of their humble beginnings but how much money they’ve since made from the course. Pictures of expensive fast cars, exotic holidays in the sun and mansions in leafy suburbs are shown as proof of this. And lets be honest, who wouldn’t want this if you’re stuck in a dead end job, have huge debts or simply fed up with your current life?
Having been involved in property investment for 25 years I can honestly say not everyone in this industry can or will make a fortune. Those that succeed have worked exceptionally hard for many years to build experience and expertise that they can share.
Sadly, its the most vulnerable who desperately want the dream to be true and sign up for ridiculously priced courses with money they can ill afford to lose. And the course organisers know that.
Thankfully there are many excellent courses available that are delivered by true industry professionals. But any company that asks you to handover £000’s upfront BEFORE they have delivered any results must be called out and questioned because deep down we all know everything that glitters is not gold.
